Every once in awhile you just have to treat yo'self. Last weekend, we drove to Savannah and did just that. Our trip started on Thursday night after work. We tried to drive through the night and make it to Jacksonville, FL. We made it to Tallahassee without dying, but we were pushing our luck. We pulled over at a Red Roof Inn to catch about 4 hours of sleep. Unfortunately I cannot recommend said establishment, but thanks to a terrifying and sleepless night in Paris, I can say that it was not the worst "hotel" experience we've ever had. Riki even slept in the sheets.
Savannah, on the other hand, is a really cool place. It's old, beautiful, and hip. It's almost too picturesque. I had never been to Savannah, but it felt like an old lover. Perhaps I had visited in a former life.
We were only there for the weekend, meeting long lost friends Austin and Sarah who we only get to see a few times a year. All we did was eat and drink. Savannah is a foodie town, and we indulged. It was a short and satisfying trip, but I would love to return and really explore more of the lowcountry. We tried to visit Bonaventure Cemetery and it was closed because of the recent hurricane damage! You know I was disappointed. Oh well, next time. It was still an amazing trip. Enjoy.
